Some people are more than patients. They’re family, and their stories become part of ours.
This is Rachel, Dr. Saylor’s little cousin, and she has been part of the Van Every Chiropractic family since she was just a little girl!
Rachel grew up getting adjusted, spending time at the office, and eventually working Saturday mornings alongside Dr. Saylor for years.
And now, life has come full circle!
Rachel brings her own little girl in for adjustments, along with the sweet baby growing in her belly!
From being the little girl on the adjusting table to becoming a mama bringing in the next generation, these are the moments that make what we do so special.
Three generations of love, family, and chiropractic care.
We love watching our chiropractic family grow!
Why Care During Pregnancy Matters
Pregnancy changes a body fast. Your center of gravity shifts, your ligaments soften, and your pelvis and low back carry more every week. Chiropractic care during pregnancy supports the parts of you doing the most work.
- Pelvic balance and comfort. Gentle, pregnancy-adapted care supports a balanced pelvis, which gives your growing baby more room and gives you more comfort as you move, sit and sleep.
- A calmer nervous system. Your nervous system coordinates every change your body is making. Care supports its regulation, so your body can adapt with less tension.
- Ease with everyday movement. Moms tell us that walking, getting out of the car and turning over in bed feel easier when their spine and pelvis are moving well.
- Preparing for birth. Pelvic work throughout pregnancy, not only in the final weeks, helps your body get ready for delivery.
Our doctors adjust moms-to-be seated, side lying or in whatever position feels comfortable for your stage of pregnancy. There is no twisting and no lying face down. You can read more on our prenatal chiropractic page. If you are curious about pelvic analysis for pregnancy, our Webster Technique guide explains it in plain words, and Webster certified care is available with Dr. Zach Conner.
Why Have Your Newborn Checked Soon After Birth
Birth is one of the most physically demanding events a baby ever goes through, even when everything goes smoothly. A gentle check in the first days and weeks supports your baby's spine and nervous system right from the start.
- A gentle check, early. We look at how your baby moves, turns and settles, so any tension from the birth is noticed early.
- Support for feeding and settling. Parents often bring their newborns in because of latching, fussiness or restless sleep. Gentle care supports a calmer, more comfortable baby.
- A foundation for growth. The first months set the pattern for rolling, sitting and crawling. A well-regulated nervous system supports that development.
- Light, safe touch. Newborn care uses fingertip pressure, about what you would use to check a ripe tomato. There is no cracking and no twisting, and many babies sleep right through it.
Learn more on our newborn and infant chiropractic page and our pediatric chiropractic page. Families who come to us for prenatal care also receive an initial newborn examination free of charge.
What a First Visit Looks Like for Moms and Babies
Your first visit is about listening. We take a detailed history of your pregnancy, your birth or your baby's birth, feeding, sleep and whatever is on your mind. For moms we use gentle, non-invasive INSiGHT scans, and for babies we do a gentle exam and scan when your baby cooperates.
At your second visit we go over your Report of Findings in plain language, share your care plan, and offer the first adjustment. Bring a fed, rested baby when you can, and do not worry about fussing. Our doctors work with wiggly babies every day.
