A clear, honest look at what prenatal chiropractic visits at Van Every actually look like, from your first scan to your first adjustment.
If you have been curious about prenatal chiropractic but nervous about what it actually involves, you are not alone. Most people picture cracking, twisting, and force, and if you are pregnant, that image alone is enough to stop you before you start. We get it, and it is not what happens here.
Check-In and Conversation
Your first visit starts the same way any good conversation does: we ask questions before we touch your spine. We talk through your pregnancy, your health history, and what brought you in, whether that is pain, curiosity, or a recommendation from a friend. Every visit here starts with a person, not a chart.
There is no rush here. Our doctors want to understand your specific pregnancy before moving into anything hands-on.
The INSiGHT Scan
Using non-invasive scanning technology, we measure how your nervous system is functioning right now: thermal patterns, heart rate variability, and surface EMG readings along your spine. None of it involves needles or discomfort. Many patients say the scan is the part that changes their mind about what chiropractic care even is.
The scan takes just a few minutes and gives our doctors objective data to work from, rather than starting an adjustment based on guesswork alone.
Report of Findings

Once the scan is complete, our doctors walk you through exactly what it shows in plain language, no jargon, no rushing past the parts you have questions about. Our doctors point out specific patterns on the scan itself, so the findings feel concrete rather than abstract.
It is also where you get to ask whatever you have been wondering about, whether that is safety, positioning, or how care might change as your pregnancy progresses. See our trimester-by-trimester guide for more on that.
Your First Gentle Adjustment
Using Koren Specific Technique (KST) and Talsky Tonal Chiropractic (TTC), your first adjustment is light, precise, and nervous system focused. There is no cracking, no twisting, and no lying face-down on your belly.
You are adjusted seated, side-lying, or in whatever position is comfortable for your stage of pregnancy, so nothing about it depends on climbing onto a table the wrong way for your body.
What It Actually Feels Like
Most patients feel very little: a light pressure, sometimes a subtle release of tension, rarely anything close to what people picture when they hear the word chiropractic. You stay in control of your comfort level the entire time, and if something feels off, you say so and the visit adjusts around you.
Patients tell us the biggest surprise is how calm the whole visit feels, and how familiar our doctors feel by the time they leave, even on day one.
