Chiropractic Care
Depending on your specific case, at Van Every Family Chiropractic Center we may employ a range of techniques to bring you the best in health including:
Koren Specific Technique
A Gentle Touch for Your Comfort
In late 2003, as a result of much research and clinical experimentation, Dr. Tedd Koren developed an improved, gentle but yet very powerful form of chiropractic spinal care that he now calls Koren Specific Technique (KST). This unique breakthrough approach allows patients to be analyzed better than ever before, with the adjustments holding stronger and for longer periods of time.
Then in 2007, Dr. Saylor being in pain due to her first pregnancy, needed to find relief, discovered this after months of research. After attending a seminar and one adjustment, the decision was made. She is now one of the top experts in KST and mentors others around the world.
Talsky Tonal Chiropractic
Another Gentle Approach to Honor Your Body’s Wisdom
In 2001, Dr. Marvin A. Talsky developed another revolutionary form of gentle chiropractic care that he calls Talsky Tonal Chiropractic (TTC). Like KST, this breakthrough technique engages in a neurological conversation with your body to find out exactly where and how to adjust in each moment, with the adjustments creating profound and lasting changes.
Both KST and TTC share the same philosophy: rather than forcing corrections, they ask your body what it needs and give it the least amount of the most effective information necessary to empower self-healing. Where KST uses the ArthroStim® to deliver precise adjustments, TTC uses equally gentle touch to address the deeper “tone” of your nervous system.
At Van Every Family Chiropractic Center, we seamlessly integrate KST and TTC based on what your body tells us it needs in each moment. Both techniques speak the same language—the language of your nervous system—ensuring you receive the most effective, gentle care possible.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is KST?
Koren Specific Technique is one of the over 300 different chiropractic techniques. Dr. Tedd Koren developed it in 2003. The doctor uses a tool called the ArthroStim®, which delivers a specific tapping to the area that needs to be adjusted.
It differs from traditional adjusting in many ways, including the fact that the patient rarely lies down to be adjusted, and can be adjusted in the position that creates the pain. The technique is gentle enough to be used on your cranial bones and addresses many concerns that are not addressed with traditional chiropractic.
There is no cracking, popping or twisting. A gentle technique is effective for pain and other health concerns, like allergies or emotional issues. It is specific to the area of your body that we need to adjust, and the effects are often longer lasting. The doctors use a tool called the ArthroStim, which delivers a specific tapping to the area that needs to be adjusted.
KST is gentle, yet powerful, and the results often last. There is no twisting, cracking or popping, and the doctors can adjust even your cranial bones. KST is also unique, because we can adjust you in the posture that hurts, including in motion (like with a golf swing). All chiropractic techniques work, but our doctors have tried many techniques and found that KST is the gentlest and makes the most impact.
Does KST get the same results as traditional chiropractic?
We have seen ever better results than traditional chiropractic! All techniques work, but KST is different in that it allows us to adjust you in the position of pain and is gentle enough to use on your cranial bones. Because the technique we use allows your body to process the adjustment, rather than using our hands to force the adjustment, patients are usually less sore after the adjustments, and the results tend to last longer.
There are many different chiropractic tools. One that many are familiar with is called the Activator. It might seem similar to the ArthroStim, but actually adjusts differently. We have found that the results we get with the ArthroStim are amazing, and the body responds quickly.
There are other chiropractic techniques that can use the ArthroStim, but they use it differently. With KST, it is actually the order that the doctors adjust that makes it work so well.
What are the key principles of TTC?
Tone as the Foundation: Tone is your body’s natural vibratory expression of life. Throughout life—starting as early as the womb and birth—physical, chemical, and emotional traumas create layers of tension in your Central Nervous System. Your body continues holding onto these old tension patterns (“stress stuck on”) even though the original traumas are long gone. Like a computer running outdated programs, your body doesn’t realize it can let go of this unnecessary tension. With the right information and permission, your body can release these layers and return to its natural state of wholeness. In chiropractic terms, this held tension is called subluxation.
How does TTC differ from traditional chiropractic?
TTC uses a vitalistic, low-force approach with no twisting, cracking, or popping. Instead of forcing corrections, it partners with your body’s wisdom, allowing corrections to unfold naturally. The focus is on empowerment – giving your body the information and permission it needs to re-initiate its own processes of self-correcting, healing, and optimizing performance.
Like KST, TTC engages in a neurological conversation with your body to determine exactly where and how to adjust. Both techniques honor the principle that your body has an innate intelligence that knows how to heal—it just needs the right gentle input at the right time.
Who developed Talsky Tonal Chiropractic?
Founded in 2001 by Dr. Marvin A. Talsky, D.C. (affectionately known as the “Godfather of Tonal Chiropractic”), TTC draws from over 60 years of Dr. Talsky’s experience. A 1963 graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic, Dr. Talsky has practiced continuously since 1965, teaching seminars worldwide and helping thousands achieve better health. His work makes TTC a modern, innovative model centered on gentle, self-directed healing.
What happens during a TTC session?
Your TTC journey begins with a thorough evaluation of your neurospinal system. Similar to KST, we assess moment-to-moment physiological cues to identify the best window into your system. The body receives a gentle nudge through light touch, and then begins its own process of detensioning, healing, and returning to wholeness.
Sessions are always relaxing, using only a very gentle amount of pressure, with no forceful manipulations. The adjustment provides subtle input that encourages your body to self-correct through natural movements, breathing, and rest. Just as with KST, we’re asking your body what it needs rather than telling it what to do.
Reduced Pain and Tension: Eases back, neck, and joint issues by normalizing Central Nervous System tone without invasive techniques.
Enhanced Nervous System Function: Boosts immunity, recovery, and overall vitality by enabling self-healing.
Improved Performance: Better focus, athletic ability, and emotional balance for work, sports, or daily life, as your body optimizes itself.
Safe and Comfortable: Extremely low-risk and enjoyable, ideal for all ages, including brand new babies, athletes, and seniors.
Empowerment: Teaches your body to self-adjust and heal, leading to long-term independence and fewer interventions.
What is holistic integration in TTC?
TTC addresses the whole person (body, mind, and emotions), promoting not just symptom relief but true wellness and personal growth. Regular care helps release trapped patterns, enhance immune function, and improve adaptation to life’s stresses, as your body learns to maintain its own balance. Sessions are tailored to you, whether you’re dealing with pain, seeking peak performance, or maintaining wellness.
Webster Technique
Developed by the late Larry Webster, D.C., the Webster Technique helps release stress on the pelvis, relaxing surrounding ligaments and reducing the sacral and pelvic subluxations to help restore normal function. These subluxations are common during pregnancy causing a variety of symptoms for the mother and, in many cases, interfering with the baby assuming the normal head-down position in preparation for delivery. The goal of the pregnancy chiropractic adjustment is to improve the neuro-biomechanical function by removing vertebral subluxation.
